Note the refreshing lack of U.S. fast food franchises on this busy Baghdad street. The Bush administration's well-documented plan is to bomb Iraqi culture into oblivion and rebuild it as a suburban mall, by using Iraqi oil money and divvying up Iraq's state economy among corporate investors. Naomi Klein says in an interview with Lakshimi Chuaudhry referenced on Naomi's website "Barely any U.S. taxpayer dollars have gone to Iraq. In fact, Iraqi money has gone to U.S. companies because it's the Iraqi oil money that's bankrolled their reconstruction contracts."
